Skills Audit ( 5 areas I feel I am the most competent and give evidence to support this claim)
Creativity-
I use elements of creativity as much as I can, with the use of my social media page for photography. I create landscape photos, different reels ,quirky captions to really engage my target audience aswell as lure a different demographic , which might be of interest to them; that being those who just have an interest in Cornish scenery. This sometimes comes as second nature, as I come up with various creations and designs and pick the best one; or the one that stands out the most to me. As well creating my own webpage , despite being a challenge and not doing it before , I found it thouroughly engaging and adapted well to a new environment on the domain. Plus, creating my own weekly Podcast, along side my friend, has allowed me to persue further expression of my ideas. As a result, encouraging innovation and allowing new ideas to flow.
2. Team Work-
With my on-going interest in people, I find it easy to work as a team. The ways in which as a team, ideas bounce of each other and you can build upon eachothers ideas. Thus being competent, as I thrive being in a social environment using ideas weve created as a team to improve my work. This being as I take criticism/suggestions well, so I can work as a team in various different positions, without feeling undermined or overpowered. Like my position in the student led television show, I was a presenter and worked along side my peers. Creating scripts, presenting and interviewing alongside my friend Daisy and also working on behind the scenes footage. Co-hosting my podcast, along side Daisy, also allows me to work as a team and live up to tasks expected.
3. Critical thinking-
Academically, I feel confident in doing critical thinking with my work, due to years of theoretical based subjects ive studied, that being: Media, Law and English Language at A-level. Being able to critically analyse texts and various pieces of information, comes from years of constantly challenging my own thoughts by asking myself more questions. This enables me to build upon my previous thoughts and make decisions for improvement. As well as , putting my emotions aside in order to factually conjour up various different opinions to support my work.
4. Adaptability-
Being adaptable means having the ability to adjust to new settings and environments easily, which I think I have a strong ability to do. This is as a result of having a positive mind and attitude, which I have learnt from negative experiences which I have had to make on the spot decisions and remained flexible in an uncertain cituation. This can be reflected through transferring to my current university, two months in I can say I have adapted well to a new setting and currently feel content with friendships, academic challenges as well as settled back into the city.
5. Written communication-
Having an already strong ,well built, relationship with academic writing I find it particularly easy to communicate by various different texts. Weather its informal or formal, I use my ability to communicate to build strong relationships by selecting a specific tone or voice which can be read by the intended demographic. For example, on my photography account to engage my followers I can use a slightly more light hearted tone, so that I appear friendly and come across relatable. Where as , when writing a cover letter to potential future employers, I make it of utmost importance to have a balance of a professional, yet approachable and warm tone.
Select your 5 lowest scores – or the five skills you think it is most important to develop - and use this table to try to work out what you could do to improve those skills (i.e. write the skill in the left hand box and the method of improvement in the right.)
Self Confidence-
To improve my self confidence, I will try and push my self, this being to present the group project of creating an interview. Therefore I will seek opportunities to present in an environment to build confidence and create a comfortable presence, this being done by recognising areas where I feel less condifent: talking infront of people and public speaking, which will come with experience. As well as, replacing perhaps negative and anxious thoughts, with positive affirmations so that I manifest a successful outcome: like the interview with a special guest. Also to try and have fun with challenges like this, to encourage better oppourtunities in the future. This can also be done through the continuous commitment to my Podcast, posted weekly it allows me to gain confidence with talking in front of others and becoming more open in front of people.
2. Decision making-
When it comes to decision making, it comes back to self confidence, being that I question if im making the right decision and if I do not I will regret not doing the other option. This can be corrected, once I view this not as a weakness but as an area of growth; I can do this via workshops, public speaking and trusting myself and my gut decisions. This mindset can help me embrace challenges rather than shy away from them, turning them into opportunities for personal development. As well, embracing mistakes as learning oppourtunities, that in the grand scheme of things I can built upon plus reflect what I would do differenltly in the future.
3. Problem solving-
In terms of problem solving, sometimes I over think situations which lead to finding my self stuck and unsure on what to do. This can be helped , through adapting to see that a problem can be sorted when you attack in face on , rather than avoiding it. So seeing it instead of a massive obstacle, I can adapt to tackle small every day challenges, to practice and refine my problem solving skills. Also, I can define the problem and break it down so that it doesn’t seem too overwhelming, therefore preventing myself from feeling stuck. In terms of asking for help too , I shouldn’t look at it as a weakness, but as an advantage because everyone needs additional support sometimes.
4. Leadership-
Improving my leadership skills, is all about oppourtunity. By putting myself in positions of power, which I have little experience in, leads to gaining experience without overwhelming pressure. This being done, by putting myself as a presenter for the student led show. Also by joining my local radio station as a presenter as well as starting my own podcast, it has allowed me to gain more leadership skills. Futhermore, it shows my initiative which is valuable for potential future employers. I do feel as if I haven’t have many oppourtunities again, which is my main focus, by putting muself in situations to gain the confidence to become a good leader.
5. Organisation-
In order to improve my organisation skills , its about dividing my home life and uni life, therefore avoiding multi-tasking and also having a set environment for my work. This will help, my organisation skills as it will declutter my work space, priortising my tasks and allowing me to flourish in a set environment, with no distractions and more time to strategically plan , goal set and maintain a healthy work-life balance too. By being able to self reflect too, it will allow me to review my own progress and figure out what works best and what doesn’t. Thus, setting weekly tasks to help me in the long run, with time management and meeting deadlines.

THREATS
What could be a barrier to your success? What threats do your weaknesses expose you to?

This can make me shy, in front of my peers, which presents its self as a barrier to perform to my best ability.
1. What skills from the Key Skills Framework do you need to develop?
In terms of the key skills framework, I need to develop my self confidence skills. At my previous university, there was lack of opportunity in regards to career progression, here I will put my self in places where I feel as though I can develop this: like presenting the student led interview as a presenter and focusing on courses that enable me to think In a different way. As well, thinking about organisation I will present my skills in this further, when creating my podcast it takes a lot of planning and team work which I will need to keep a plan to stick to alongside Daisy; keeping the podcast set up also takes organisation skills. With leadership, it’s of utmost importance I focus on maintaining and improving this skill set, due to having my own photography business, as I want to continue reaching a new demographic and pursuing quality content. As a freelancer, its my responsibility to lead and have initiative.
